BCS Aftermath

After watching the total annihilation of USC in the second half I was interested to see how the media would react. Just as I expected, Boise State wasn't even mentioned and at the closing of the game, one of the commentators believed that Oregon would be ranked number 4 in the BCS, placing them in front of TCU at 5. Iowa and Boise State was left out of the top 5. Now I'm not saying that Boise State desreves to be in the national championship, however, what I am saying is that the system stinks. How could you justify Oregon moving past Boise State in the polls? Some may say that Oregon had a harder schedule, which is true, however, the single loss on Oregons' record is to Boise State. People may believe that the Oregon team now, would demolish Boise State. That is possible, however, how would you know? Boise State defeated Oregon when they were at full strength, before the punch heard around the world. In any case, it was a treat for me to see one of the big boys fall and I hope that there is more to come. Everything will work itself out and if TCU and Boise State are standing undefeated at the end, I'll be interested to see how the BCS all works out.

  1. i know we hear this over and over and over again. but isn't it about time we have a college football playoff system? i bet right now after oregon demolished usc the bcs supporters are pissing in their pants. and, as the history of college football goes there will be more upsets either this year or in the years to come. regardless of what happens, people will always think... what if there was a playoff system?

i like espn's college football proposal. they designed this system back in 2007, when UH was off da hook. 16 teams (whether you take the top 16 in the bcs or the 11 conference champs plus 5 at large bids). check it out at:

the big time bowls don't lose any money, they still got big money teams playing in games that people are excited to see. think: march madness. i'm all for it, and hopefully it's just a matter of time before the bcs system is jettisoned and the playoff system is introduced to college football.

  2. Well a playoff ain't happening anytime soon, and as for people dreaming of a TCU vs Boise matchup, that ain't gonna happen either. Basically the championship is going to be the SEC champion (undefeated or one loss) against Texas (only if they are undefeated, but who left on the schedule can beat them? A&M? Hell No!!!).

Lets not forget, with Florida's win and South Carolina's loss, Florida has already clinched the SEC East. Plus, if Alabama's QB can get his proverbial "Shite" together, I don't see anyone beating them in the regular season. In my opinion, and I tell it to all the Mountain West diehards (or as I like to call them Retards) out here, the only way the MWC gets to be a BCS conference is they need to drop Wyoming for Boise and drop San Diego State for Fresno. By doing that, they're a better conference than the Big East.

Speaking of the Big East, before we get all caught up in the "Boise and TCU are gonna be undefeated" saga, lets not forget that Cincinati is still undefeated AND they are in a BCS conference, so what is that going to mean. Lets just hope everyone that can stays undefeated so that all hell breaks loose and the BCS must act.

  3. I hear what youʻre saying Eliot. I think in the system we have now that youʻre right it will probably be someone from the SEC vs Texas. I just hope Iowa doesnʻt end up in the championship if theyʻre undefeated. Please, not another Big Ten team. When I look at all the undefeated teams, if Texas loses before the bowl games and everyone else stays undefeated, a case can be made that TCU is more deserving than Iowa and Cincinnati. I have already accepted that Boise State isnʻt going to be in the championship game, I donʻt think they deserve to be there. However, I do think they deserve to end up in another BCS bowl game. Maybe Oregon and Boise State part 2. Imagine Blount returning from suspension to play Boise State, that would make for good television.
