LSU Falls To Ole Miss

8th rank LSU, loses to Ole Miss in a game that Les Miles seemed to mismanage at the end. With less than 2 minutes on the clock and in field goal range, LSU looked poised to pull off a comeback win. However, it wasn't meant to be as Miles seemed to shoot his team in the foot by calling a passing play on 2nd and 10 while in field goal range and down by 2 points, which resulted in a 9 yard sack that took them well out of the kickers range. Surprisingly, on 3rd down, Miles calls a screen play that nets negative yards. Finally, on 4th down, LSU heaves a deep pass down field, which puts them back into field goal range with 1 second left on the clock. With the clock stopped, LSU looks like a chicken with its head cut off and instead of bringing the kicking team on the field, they line up in regular formation and aren't able to run another play. Right after the game, Miles appeared confused as he tried to explain his thought process. He was probably wondering why he didn't call a running play, heck even a quarterback sneak would have been sufficient. With another loss, LSU will probably drop out of the top 10 because someone forgot to run the ball.

  1. That was the worst clock mismanagement I've ever seen in my life, but the sad thing is the fact that I wasn't surprised. LSU first showed this lack of offensive cohesion (or offensive stupidity as I call it) during the Florida game when every time the offense lined up on the line of scrimmage, Jefferson would pull back from the center and everyone would look at the sideline for the play. If they had one ounce of cohesion and understanding, the would have beaten Florida and definitely would have beaten Ole Miss.

Anyways, as much as I would like to blame Les Miles for this, in the end, it's the quarterback who has to take full responsibility because he should have looked at the clock as he lined up behind center and called an audible cuz hell the refs were giving them a free play and not letting the clock run one the we set at the line.

Now what we should really talk about is how Charlie Weiss lost AGAIN at home. I'm pretty sure that he's gone regardless of what happens next week (I predict an ass beating from Stanford). So who's gonna replace him? Brad Kelly? Mike Stoops? Urban Meyer? We'll see.

  2. Your right about Weis, he is gone after the season. Personally, I think Brad Kelly will be the next coach because I can't see Meyer or Stoops leaving their schools.

In regards to Les Miles, the blame still falls on the coach especially since it wasn't the final play that sealed their doom, it was the poor clock management that placed the noose around their neck.

I think LSU fans are used to this type of management because this is who Les is. When they were winning he took a lot of chances (going for the touchdown when a FG would have won the game) that could have blown up in his face but it didn't. You have to take the good with the bad.
